A country music gig going down at a pub north-east of Melbourne last night has ended in tragedy.
A man has been confirmed dead after a violent brawl allegedly erupted outside the Eildon Holiday Resort just before midnight, following a live set by country collective, Ruckus.
According to a statement from police, the man was struck and fell to the ground, smashing his head. Paramedics rushed to his aid but despite their efforts, he passed away at the scene.
Detectives have launched an investigation into the incident, and have swarmed the pub today to gather evidence about the exact circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
According to the Herald Sun, they’ve already spoken to a number of witnesses.
No one has been arrested at this point, but anyone who may have witnessed what happened is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
