Mark Lanegan working on new album

Former Screaming Trees frontman and serial collaborator Mark Lanegan has just announced he has begun work on a new solo album, the follow up to 2004’s Bubblegum.

Speaking to Tel-Aviv based music site Musica Neto Lanegan had this to say. “I started working on a new album a few weeks ago and I’ll continue to work on it once I get back from this tour.”

Going on to name drop Alain Johannes, current Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist, (as well as having released his own solo album Spark, earlier this year and playing with Them Crooked Vultures) as a collaborator, Lanegan also hinted that he would be working with some of his past contributors.

Currently on tour in Europe with Belle & Sebastian’s Isobell Campbell in support of their third full length collaboration Hawk (highly recommended) Lanegan plans to finish work on the album when he returns home. One of the most veteran and accomplished performers working today, anything this man touches oozes conviction and quality and I couldn’t be more excited.
