Maroon 5’s Frontman: Shroom’s “Made Me Understand Certain Things”

Written by Mike Hohnen on July 4, 2012

Maroon 5’s Adam Levine has opened up recently to Q magazine about his recently experimentation with hallucinogenic substances. The frontman, currently doing the press rounds in support of the bands latest album Overexposed has had his mind opened by Magic Mushrooms.

Personally, I have always though that everyone should try Shroom’s at least once, and Levine seems to agree with that theory, telling the publication “”I definitely, firmly believe that the experience I had on mushrooms made me understand certain things about myself that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise.” Whilst he didn’t go into to much deal as to what happened during his trip, he did state that “What I took away from that experience was valuable and beneficial to me. It really forced me to look at myself.”

Shroom’s do grow naturally and as the kids these days put it, give the user a total ‘body fuck’ experience. Though they are natural too much is still too much. Levine himself is being cautious not to abuse the substance for fear of becoming a “fucking psychotic maniac.” (Happened to a friend of mine. Real talk.)

The drug affects everyone differently, from no visuals what so ever, to finding yourself in only a towel talking to Jesus in your neighbours driveway while you hide from the tree’s that have been chasing you. Levine continued to say “It’s so corny to say but it’s true; you just get in touch with the wonderment you have as a kid that you tend to lose.”

Could the recent discovery start to impact their music? Could Maroon 5’s next album be totally whack? Time will tell.
