Meet The New Anti-Stereosonic Music Festival Called “F@#K Stereo”

A new Australian mini-festival has been launched in what appears to be some kind of musical protest against electronic behemoth Stereosonic, which has picked up its fair share of haters (and lovers) over the years.

The new festival, which is literally called “F@#K Stereo’s // Let’s ROCK”, is being hosted in Adelaide this December, and according to the event’s Facebook page, it’s an event “for those among us who prefer original live music”.

The first ever F@#K Stereo’s mini-festival will be an all-ages event featuring Aussie rock bands such as Flyying Colours, The Love Junkies and Lepers & Crooks.

The event is promising beers, a BBQ and even “some beats” (wait, do they mean ~electronic~ beats?) before the lineup of bands take things into the night. A series of special guests are also expected on the night, but they’re probably not going to be David Guetta or Deadmau5 (although that would be pretty funny).

Interestingly, as former triple j host Lindsay McDougall points out on the Facebook event page, the show’s promoters, NOBLE Events & Touring, are also currently promoting Adelaide’s Full Moon Party Music Festival, which features a string of EDM producers and DJs. Funny that.

Stereosonic made headlines last year after a massive all-in brawl broke out at the Sydney leg of the festival, with Music Feeds acquiring exclusive footage of the incident. The event’s co-founder later said he was sick of the festival’s “roid up bro’s muscle culture”.

Fuck Stereo’s anti-Stereosonic event is happening at Adelaide’s Fowlers Live on Saturday, 5th December — the same day Stereosonic itself will take place in Adelaide’s Bonython Park. Catch Fuck Stereo’s full pro-rock lineup alongside ticket details, below.

If you’re more of a Stereosonic punter, this year’s festival will host the likes of Diplo, Hot Dub Time Machine, Major Lazer and Peking Duk across the country in November and December.
