Fall Out Boy have copped A LOT of flack for their take on the Ghostbusters theme song since it was released last month, so musician Kris Norris (ex-Scar The Martyr, Darkest Hour and Threat Signal) has put a very metal twist on the 1984 tune.
Norris’ beefed-up version of the Ghostbusters theme (below) sees the muso pair up the vocals from Ray Parker, Jr’s original version of the song with some brutal metal instrumentation. It isn’t quite as impressive as Leo Moracchioli’s stunning metal cover of the song from last year (also below), but practically anything is better than Fall Out Boy’s effort.
Parker, who wrote and performed the original Ghostbusters theme song, tells Inside Edition that nobody approached him before Fall Out Boy’s lacklustre cover of the Ghostbusters theme — which features rapper Missy Elliott, for some reason — was unleashed upon the world.
“I wish they had called me to maybe work with some of the younger guys and help them get a direction,” he says, adding that Fall Out Boy’s version of the song was “interesting”, which is codeword for ‘BAD, VERY BAD’.
“I’m just gonna say maybe I’m an old guy now and I like it the old way,” Parker says.
Director Paul Feig’s reboot of Ghostbusters is out on 15th July. Catch Kris Norris and Leo Moracchioli’s metal covers of the franchise’s theme song, below.
