Michael Franti & Spearhead Lock In 2016 Australian Tour

Enigmatic American rapper, spoken word artist, poet, and singer-songwriter Michael Franti has just announced that he’ll be making the trip down under for an exclusive Australian tour later in 2016 with his band Spearhead.

Following on from his amazing set at Bluesfest 2015, Franti will return for a strictly limited series of shows this September in Melbourne and Sydney only.

Franti and Spearhead are touring in support of the recent release of his powerful ninth studio album SOULROCKER, guaranteeing some incredible shows with the unique fusion of folk, rock, reggae and hip-hop that Franti has become known for in his two decades on the scene.

Franti is also known not only for his emotive and impassioned music, but as an activist and humanitarian. He’s previously received Global Exchange’s Domestic Human Rights Award, and he passionately believes that his music can make a real difference to the struggles the world is facing currently.

“Right now is a very challenging time for people, for our nation and the planet,” he said in a statement. “But I really believe that music can help fight war and violence and hatred. The world needs that more than ever now, so my intention with this album was to make music that could bring people together.”
