Michael Jackson Earns $268m First Year After Death

Written by John Ritchie on November 8, 2011

Michael Jackson’s estate has generated over $268m in the 12 months after his death in 2009. Jackson earned more dead from June 2009 – 2010 than Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Madonna and Jay-Z combined did while alive.

Radio play and album sales paid the Jackson estate around $49m, memorabilia, video games sales and a reissued autobiography accounted for the rest.

The ironic thing is that Jackson was in over $400m debt before he died, which is why he was keen to take on the This Is It tour that ultimately contributed in his death.

Jackson’s Doctor, Conrad Murray, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter earlier today at the Michael Jackson trial in Los Angeles.
