Michael Jackson Tribute Concert In Shambles After Kiss Announcement

The Michael Jackson Tribute Concert organised by Jackson’s mother Katherine is in shambles after the announcement yesterday that Kiss would play. The concert pegged Michael Forever has divided Jackson’s family and fans from the start, and Jackson’s brothers Randy and Jermaine have opposed the gig because it will be held during the involuntary manslaughter trial of the Jackson’s former doctor, Conrad Murray.

Now Howard Weitzman, the lawyer for the Michael Jackson Estate, has sent a letter to promoters of the Michael Forever Concert expressing anger that KISS will be performing after statements resurfaced from guitarist, Gene Simmons, publicly accusing MJ of being a hard-core child molester. Weitzman said:

It was extraordinarily embarrassing when no sooner than you announced this ‘news’ that he would participate in your concert that TMZ posted an item noting that Mr. Simmons called Michael Jackson, the man you are purportedly honouring, a child molester.

Last year in an interview in Classic Rock magazine Simmons said:

Where there’s smoke there’s fire, There’s no question in my mind [Michael] molested those kids. Not a doubt. As time moved on, and no matter what my fond memories and fond images of Michael were, with one allegation of paedophilia after another and another and another – oh dear … I knew some of the musicians he toured with, and specifically one who quit because of seeing boys coming out of the hotel rooms. And then you factor in that his travel agent was put on the stand and in court said that she was authorised to fly to Brazil and bring boys back to America for him … Michael’s on tape going, ‘Give the kids Jesus juice.’ Which is wine. I mean it’s just endless.

Jackson’s mother told CNN: I know Michael would be very excited about Kiss.
