Michael Jackson’s Chimp Bubbles Is Getting His Own Biopic

The screenplay for a biopic telling Michael Jackson‘s story from the eyes of his famous chimpanzee, who lived at the Neverland Ranch after being adopted from a research facility in 1983, will soon be in production.

The story will be brought to life using stop-motion animation, and Dan Harmon has recently signed on to bring the story of Bubbles to the big screen. The Community and Rick & Morty creator will produce the film in the spirit of 2015 academy-award nominated animated release Animolisa.

The script has already been written by Isaac Adamson, and recently topped the 2015 Black List; an annual rundown of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays. It represents one of the most creative ways ever used to get around needing permission to tell an unauthorised story of Jackon’s life.

The Black List summarises the plot as a story, narrated by Bubbles himself, which “details his life within The King of Pop’s inner circle through the scandals that later rocked Jackson’s life and eventually led to Bubbles’ release”.
