Midnight Oil Are Teasing A Big Announcement For Next Week

UPDATE 17/02/17: Midnight Oil have announced their 2017 ‘The Great Circle’ world tour, which includes Australian tour dates.

ORIGINAL STORY: Aussie rock legends Midnight Oil officially reformed last year, promising to tour the country in 2017, and it looks like they might soon come good on that promise, with a big announcement from the band being teased for Friday, 17th February.

Touring company Frontier Touring has today posted a teaser image of a starry sky, smoke (possibly from some burning beds?), a date, and the caption “Soon…”:

What’s more, Midnight Oil have changed their Facebook profile photo and cover photo to match the image posted by Frontier Touring, suggesting that a 2017 Midnight Oil national tour could very well be announced next Friday.

Midnight Oil began to dissolve in 2002, after frontman Peter Garrett began to focus on his political career. The Oils also released their latest album, Capricornia, in the same year.

The band have reunited a number of times since then, but last year’s announcement confirmed they’d be reforming to tour extensively again.

Garrett also released his debut solo album A Version Of Now last year, and toured the record around the country throughout July and August.

Now while we wait for next week’s announcement, go practice those dance moves…
