Mineral Announce Debut Australian Tour

Austin emo heroes Mineral reunited this year for their first shows in 17 years, marking the 20th anniversary of the band’s formation, and now they’ve announced they’re heading our way for a string of Australian shows in February 2015.

Mineral will play three shows while in the country, starting at Brisbane’s The Brightside on Sunday 22nd February, before moving on to Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on February 23rd and rounding up the visit at Melbourne’s Reverence Hotel on February 24th.

Formed in 1994 by friends Chris Simpson, Jeremy Gomez (bass), Scott McCarver (guitar), and Gabriel Wiley (drums), Mineral proved to be a powerful and lasting influence across a then-burgeoning indie and emo music scene, despite their short time in the scene.

They cut their teeth on the road, touring alongside fellow genre giants including Jimmy Eat World, The Promise Ring, Texas is the Reason, Knapsack, Braid, and The Get Up Kids. Mineral soon relocated to Austin and released their loved debut album The Power Of Failing, in 1997.

Most recently the band released 1994-1998: The Complete Collection, a compilation of both their full-length releases, The Power Of Failing and 1998’s EndSerenading. After they disbanded in 1998, the four members each went on to work on other projects.

“Reconnecting with each other and this material for the first time in 17 years has been a real joy and pleasure,” said Simpson in a statement, via Pitchfork, earlier this year. “The shows will be the icing on the cake. We are grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to getting to play for all the people who have loved us all along as well as the many who have discovered us posthumously along the way.”

Also travelling to Australia for the very first time to join the tour is Texas Is The Reason frontman Garrett Klahn and extra support will be provided by Brisbane’s Arrows. See tour dates and ticketing information below.
