Mix Master Mike Drops Australian Tour Dates, November 2013

Widely viewed as one of the best DJs of all time, ex-Beastie Boys resident scratcher Mix Master Mike has confirmed he will be heading back Down Under for a brief headlining stint this November.

As far as dedicating your life to music goes, few have immersed themselves in a manner as thoroughly as Mix Master Mike has. From an early age, the dude developed a penchant for all things vinyl and it didn’t take long for Mix Master Mike to begin shaping his legacy. In 1992, he became the first DJ from the West Coast to be crowned mixing World Champion by winning the New Music Seminar DJ Battle for World Supremacy in New York City.

From there, Mike went onto forge the first-ever scratch band with cohorts DJ Apollo and Q-Bert, winning the DMC World Title for their craft. At this point in time, Mike was asked to step down from the competition after his reign of domination was deemed unfair on other contestants. Not bad.

After a chance meeting in 1994, Mike soon found himself in the company of Adam Yauch, Mario C and Mike D aka the Beastie Boys, who were more than impressed with his skills on the decks, becoming a full time member after cutting sick all over their multi-platinum album Hello Nasty.

Since then, Mix Master Mike has maintained his titles and accolades via a string of well-received releases, hosting SPIN PSYCLE radio show on KROQ-FM, working with EA and ESPN as well as dabbling in acting. The living legend will now be heading Down Under to show us all how its done.
