Modest Mouse Share New Track ‘Lampshades On Fire’

Modest Mouse have given fans the first taste of their highly-anticipated eighth studio album, Strangers To Ourselves. The album’s first single, Lampshades On Fire, was given its online premiere overnight.

Beginning with some bouncy keyboard chords, the final cut of Lampshades On Fire doesn’t sound too dissimilar to the version Modest Mouse first began performing in 2011 (below). The song can be streamed in full over at The Current, and its official single artwork is available to view below.

Strangers To Ourselves, set for a US release on 3rd March, will be Modest Mouse’s first full-length recording since 2007’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, and it’s clear the band have been working long and hard on the record. They’ve even scrapped tours in order to work on the album, which may see a cameo from Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.
