Monuments’ ‘Bruce Almighty’ Metal Edit Is A Comedy Miracle

One of the most sidesplitting scenes in the 2003 Jim Carrey comedy Bruce Almighty is when newsreader Evan Baxter’s voice deflates like a squeaky balloon and then veers off into a batshit bonkers spray of gobbledegook during a live news report, courtesy of some divine intervention from the titular protagonist.

The scene is so funny, it made Steve Carell a bona fide comedy star overnight. Now Soundwave 2015 act Monuments have worked some divine intervention of their very own, with a metal remix taking it to comedic heights none of us ever thought possible.

The British progressive metal outfit’s guitarist Olly Steele and drummer, Mike Malyan, recently posted the video of their hard work on Facebook, along with the tagline, “When we’re not grooving, we’re making stupid things.” Stupid it may be, but it’s also bloody funny.

Monuments are currently down to play this year’s Soundwave Festival on Stage 5, Faith No More Day. Check out their Bruce Almighty metal edit below, and pray for a live reprise come Soundwave time.
