More Bands To Be Added To Soundwave 2014 Lineup

The immense list of bands already confirmed for the Soundwave 2014 lineup grew even longer last week when the third lineup announcement dropped and is expected to grow bigger still with promoters keeping a couple more announcements up their sleeve before the tour kicks off in February.

US post-hardcore outfit Falling In Reverse were missing from previous announcements but promoter AJ Maddah says he’s still hoping he might be able to secure a last-minute booking. When asked on Twitter if the band is a definite no for Soundwave 2014, Maddah replied “Not yet. I am holding hope for another week.”

Maddah had previously stated that the Las Vegas band are “confirmed” for Soundwave, but the industry mogul refused to make an official announcement until frontman Ronnie Radke‘s visa has been confirmed. Radke has had a string of drug and criminal convictions in the past, including a two year stint in jail after violating probation for his role in the shooting death of a Nevada man.

UPDATE 9:33am 24/01/14: It looks as though Radke’s visa troubles have prevented the band from heading to Australia, with Maddah tweeting last night that FIR at Soundwave is “not going to happen“.

Maddah also entertained the idea of a “secret show” reunion of rock supergroup Army Of Anyone. The band, made up of Filter frontman Richard Patrick, Stone Temple PilotsDeLeo brothers and Ray Luzier of Korn, released only one self-titled album back in 2006. The band has expressed interest in a reunion if conditions allowed and with all members in Oz for Soundwave already, now could be the perfect time.

Five more local acts will be added to the lineup when the winners of the triple j Soundwave Unearthed competition are announced. A local unsigned act from each city will have the chance to add their names to the massive bill, if they uploaded their tracks to the Unearthed site before Wednesday 5th February and have rock, punk, or metal selected as one of the genres.
