Morrissey has fired back at Jimmy Kimmel after the US talk show star mocked Moz for cancelling an appearance on his show at the last minute. As previously reported, Morrissey, a well-known animal activist and vegetarian, bailed on his spot on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week after refusing to appear on the show with the cast of duck hunting reality show Ducky Dynasty.
According to Pitchfork, Kimmel decided to poke fun at Morrisey on several occasions on-air following his cancellation. This included broadcasting a faux Duck Dynasty clip, where the show’s cast hunted for carrots and broccoli (calling vegetables “yuppie food”) and to rub further salt into the wound Kimmel also joked that he kept Duck Dynasty on the show because “they have guns and Morrissey doesn’t” and that Morrissey “keeps finding ways to depress us”.
Now, though, Morrissey has issued his response, accusing :
“I was disappointed with last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Show wherein our smiling host managed to ridicule depression (70% of Americans suffer from depression according to the National Institute of Mental Health). He then found time to ridicule healthy eating (the obesity epidemic in the U.S. costs $147 billion per year in medical expenditure), and he also ridiculed the notion that animals should be entitled to the possession of their own lives. Furthermore, he found time to jokingly promote gun-ownership – hugely amusing for the parents at Sandy Hook, no doubt. He also promoted his special guests Duck Dynasty – who kill beings for fun. None of the above issues are, of course, as important as Jimmy Kimmel himself, who has finally revealed his show to have an overwhelming loss of meaning. Tune in and relive the intellectual fog of the 1950s.”

Moz has been on the warpath of late. Just last week, he had a stoush with management at LA’s Staples Centre after they threatened to not uphold his contractual stipulation for 100% meat-free catering at his upcoming show there.
