Morrissey Cancels Jimmy Kimmel Appearance In Protest Over Hunting Group

Super herbivore Morrissey has chosen to cancel an upcoming appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live as the singer was booked along with the cast members of Duck Dynasty, a American reality TV show that centers on the Robertson Family, whose business Duck Commander makes products for duck hunters.

As reported by Consequence of Sound, the appearance on Kimmel Live was meant to be Morrisey’s first since being forced to cancel a string of US dates after being hospitalised with a bleeding ulcer. An official statement on the Kimmel cancelation was issued:

Morrissey is thankful for being invited to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow, February 26. However, he cannot morally be on a television program where the cast members of Duck Dynasty will also be guests. Morrissey would be honored to play the show, if Duck Dynasty were removed.

While in the States, Morrissey recently got into a similar argument with management at LA’s iconic Staples Centre. Reportedly, after contractually agreeing to sell no food containing meat at Morrissey’s upcoming gig (including having all McDonald’s outlets closed), Staples Center General Manager Lee Zeidman said, with all due respect to Morrissey, meat would be available.

Morriessey responded with a post on his online zine True To You, writing:

Reports that the Staples Center will not be 100% vegetarian on March 1st are playfully untrue. Contractually, all McDonalds vendors shall be closed down, and the only thing burning shall be my heart.
