Motorhead Guitarist Dies At Age 61

The former Motorhead guitarist Würzel (real name Michael Burston) has died at the age of 61 of ventricular fibrillation, caused by heart disease. The sad news was posted by Lemmy’s longtime bass tech, Tim Butcher on his facebook page on Saturday.

Würzel played guitar in Motorhead from 1984 to 1995 and was not replaced when he left. He was recently working on a new project with his new band, Leader Of Down.

The band honoured Würzel at their Sonisphere Festival gig yesterday declaring “We’d like to dedicate this set and our lives to Würzel.”

Würzel was one of the longer-standing members of Motorhead and recorded on 9 studio albums with the band.
