Music Feeds LIVE: Bertie Blackman Streaming This Tuesday

Bertie Blackman is set to bring her unique blend of pop, electronica and indie rock to Music Feeds Studio when she performs a live-streamed session for Music Feeds LIVE this Tuesday, 9th September, ahead of her two highly anticipated headlining dates in Sydney and Melbourne (see details below).

The Sydney singer-songwriter recently announced the release of her fifth studio album, The Dash, which is slated to drop on Friday, 3rd October. The musician’s latest full-length effort is the follow-up to 2012′s Pope Innocent X and marks the introduction of a more inclusive songwriting process for Blackman.

“I wanted to take all the things I really love about music and turn it into a pop moment,” said Blackman. “I’m a solo writer. But I wanted to learn how the rest of the world writes pop music. I wanted to explore my voice, explore the structure of pop music and hooks – find how I could have fun making music again.”

Blackman’s search for co-writers led her to some of Australia’s finest pop alchemists, including Julian Hamilton of The Presets, Louis Schoorl (Daniel Johns & 360, Jessica Mauboy), and John Castle (Josh Pyke, Vance Joy).

“I think people will be able to hear that I’m having fun making this record. You should be able to go out and dance to it. Have a little cry maybe to one of the songs. It’s just about letting go – something that I struggle with sometimes. Go and have fun with it, experience life to it in the moment,” said Blackman.

To watch one of Sydney’s best songwriting talents having fun with her new record at the one and only Music Feeds Studio, tune in right here after 11am on Tuesday, 9th September when Bertie Blackman comes in for a special performance and a quick interview.
