My Morning Jacket 2012 Australian Tour Dates

My Morning Jacket have announced Australian tour shows in Melbourne and Sydney in April to Coincide with their performances at this years Bluesfest and Perth Festival. Lead by the enigmatic Jim James, the band will be performing songs from their vast array of tunes including this years album Circuital.

My Morning Jacket was formed by Jim James in 1998 in Louisville, Kentucky under the name Month of Sundays. The original line-up included members of the Shelbyville emo-punk band Winter Death Club, John McQuade (later known as Johnny Quaid – guitar and vocals), Tom Blankenship (later known as Two Tone Tommy – bass) and J. Roberts (later known as J. Glenn – drums).

Winter Death Club were signed to Charleston indie label Street Records in 1997 and Jim James was also offered his own contract but declined. Jim James then disbanded Month of Sundays and formed a new band with Quaid, Blankenship and Glenn. The band was named My Morning Jacket and signed to Darla Records.
