Adele plans to release a new song by the end of 2012, but has made it clear that a new album won’t be due for another two years, allowing herself time to write it.
Speaking to French radio station NRJ, she has said that she’s getting back into the writing process, and would like to get something out before the end of 2012 “There will be a new song, probably coming out at the end of the year … But then it depends how quickly I write some other new songs.”
Her massive 2011 album, 21, won her two Brit Awards and six Grammys including Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Short Form Music Video.
But it could be a while before we get the follow-up album, with Adele saying that it won’t be for a good two years.
“If I didn’t write my own songs, I’d be out next week with a new album. But because I write my own songs, I have to take time and live a little bit. There was a good two years between my first and second albums, so it’ll be the same this time.”
