New Michael Jackson album due Dec 14th: New track available to stream

Written by Michael Carr on November 8, 2010

It seems Michael Jackson will be latest musician to release music from beyond the grave with the posthumous album Michael to be released on Dec 14th on Epic Records. A collection of songs that Jackson is said to have completed in the lead up to his death.

“Fans will get mind-blowing insight into how this artist worked and a chance to hear the songs he most recently created along with tracks that Michael had a desire to bring to fruition,” Jackson’s label said in a statement.

A sneak peak single, Breaking News is currently streaming on his site. The song references his legal troubles and the media frenzy surrounding them. Featuring a distinctly Michael sounding beat, the song does show that despite his poor physical condition the singer still had chops, and while not standing up to his landmark work on albums like Off The Wall or Thriller, still compares well to most of today’s pop artists.

There has however been some controversy surrounding the album, after Jackson’s daughter Paris alleged that some of the recordings TMZ reported Jackson had worked on with producer Eddie Cascio in 2007 featured a voice that wan not her fathers. According to TMZ though the singers estate have said that there are sound experts who have vouch for the songs authenticity.

Regardless of the furor, this album is sure to be one of the most anticipated released of the year, and only time will tell if it lives up to the hype.
