Australian metalcore band Northlane have missed a flight, and have subsequently cancelled their show for tonight. However fans reacted poorly to the news, slamming the band for essentially standing them up. One fan told the band via Facebook that “Kinda bad on a tour of this size, these guys have had a massive opportunity and have just ‘missed a flight’. Not impressed…” And fair enough, the group who are on the verge of breaking into the popular scene after their release of 2011s ‘Discoveries’ have apparently left fans confused and betrayed.
With fans suggesting that the band reschedule flights or drive, it raises the question of how committed they are to their fans. The band themselves seemed not to be phased by their inability to make tonights show, with the status “We have missed our flight this morning and as a result will not be making it to the show in Adelaide tonight. Sorry guys” the absence of sincerity in that post is depressing. No mention of a refund or more than one apology doesn’t really cut it when the band is yet to truly emerge on the Australian musical scene.
