Obscene Extreme Festival To Make Australian Debut

Written by Mike Hohnen on September 14, 2012

One of the most successful and long-lasting underground metal festivals, Obscene Extreme, has announced today that for the first time ever they will be branching the franchise all the way to Australia.

Though the lineup is yet to be announced, the festival is not known for doing things small by any means. In its 14 years of existence, 500 bands have graced the stages. The festival brings with it a strong sense of community and pride in one’s scene, with “no shitty rules, no shitty security”, the ounce is on oneself to not only look after themselves, but their fellow concertgoers.

Focusing primarily on old underground grindcore, crust, punk, death metal, thrash metal, hardcore, and everything in between, Obscene Extreme is set to pull metal heads, steam punks, neo-goths, cyber punks (if they exist yet), hardcore kids and probably the odd scene dude or girl all together for one massive night of settling our differences to have a generally awesome experience.

Taking place somewhere in Melbourne (Venue TBA), Obscene Extreme will be in town 12-13th of April after stopping through Mexico and Indonesia. You know a grindcore and heavy metal fest is going to be good when the organisers are coming from the Czech Republic. That’s metal as fuck. Stay tuned for more info on this one.
