Ocean Grove Announce Debut Album, Share New Single ‘Intimate Aliens’

Melbourne’s Ocean Grove are a band ready to set the world on fire in 2017.

The group has just announced that its debut album The Rhapsody Tapes will be released on 3rd February, which coincides with the last shows of their extensive jaunt supporting The Amity Affliction’s ‘Death to Misery Tour’ with Hellions.

From 2013’s Outsider EP and 2015’s Black Label EP, Ocean Grove have built a loyal fanbase and cemented their place in the heavy music scene. The Rhapsody Tapes continues the genre-bending theme the band has become known for, referred to as the self-coined term ‘Odd World Music’.

The Rhapsody Tapes explores a fascination with a warped perception of reality,” frontman Luke Holmes says.

“It tells parallel stories that come in waves… and parts of the album are written from the view of a child standing on the edge, looking out into a hyperreality in search of something.”

The album was written and produced entirely in drummer/producer Sam Bassal’s bedroom, giving the band full creative control. As bassist Dale Tanner says, “We hope to present our art in a way that is incongruous with most, and that is the theme that binds all these songs and topics together – Odd World.”

The Rhapsody Tapes will be available 3rd February via UNFD. Check out lead single ‘Intimate Alien’ below, and catch the band on tour with The Amity Affliction in January and February.
