An Old Red Hot Chili Peppers Song Featuring Dave Navarro Has Leaked

Some clever internet user has found their way into the vaults and unearthed an unreleased Red Hot Chili Peppers song from 1997 featuring Dave Navarro on guitar.

Navarro was part of the band from 1993 to 1998 replacing John Frusciante on guitar for a world tour and also helped with the recording of One Hot Minute. He was also meant to work on the follow-up to the album but was fired by the band in 1998 after his drug addiction slowed down recording.

The guitarist has since gone onto release more albums with Jane’s Addiction, The Panic Channel and as a solo act, never rejoining the Chilis, but this leaked track Circle Of The Noose gives us a taste of what could’ve been.

The track was leaked by Twitter account RHCPtv5 but Navarro seems to be happy that it’s finally seen the light of day. “WOW what a trip down memory lane! Thanks,” he tweeted at the leakers.

According to Alt Nation, Navarro spoke about the track in a 1997 interview with All Star, saying it was one of the “greatest pop songs” he’s been apart of.

“It’s pop in the sense of verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, hook,” he said.

“I really love it and we use a loop of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. It’s really nice. The best way I can describe it is it’s like pepped- up ’60s folk with ’90s ideals, but I would hate to label it as folk because it’s not, it moves.”
