Outkast To Headline Governors Ball 2014

Hot on the heels of news that hip hop duo Outkast will be headlining April’s Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival, the reunited pair of Andre ‘3000’ Benjamin and Antwan ‘Big Boi’ Patton have today also been announced to play this year’s Governors Ball.

Rolling Stone broke the news that the Hey Ya stars would top the bill for the event, which takes place between June 6 – 8 at Randall’s Island Park in New York, the first act to be confirmed with another 80 acts set to follow.

And the fine folk behind Governors Ball have been firing up gossip about exactly who could be playing, tweeting a picture of late greats Biggie Smalls and 2Pac with the caption “Just you wait”. Consider our interest piqued.

They also posted a picture of what seems to be Static on a television screen – could New York pop duo Cults be on the lineup? Or does that look more like White Noise, a la Disclosure? They followed that up with a snap of River Phoenix and his family, presumably suggesting that French indie kings Phoenix will be announced soon.

If last year’s event was anything to go by, this year’s Governors Ball will be one to watch – the 2013 instalment saw Kanye West play five Yeezus tracks live for the first time, as well as a rather muddy set from Kings Of Leon.
