UPDATE 15/07/16: Yours & Owls Festival has expanded its 2016 lineup, and has also announced a huge new art installation for the event.
ORIGINAL STORY: Wollongong’s Yours & Owls festival has announced jam-packed lineup of international and local acts for its 2016 event.
There are six international artists heading to the festival including rapper Antwon, Cali punk band Bleached, heavy rockers Black Mountain, Washington all-girl band Chastity Belt, Atlanta rock trip Coathangers and the band responsible for last week’s triple j Feature Album PUP.
Big Scary, Ball Park Music, DMA’s, COG, Tkay Maidza and The Living End lead the Aussie component of the lineup which is basically a who’s who in Australian music right now.
The amount of female artists that appear on a lineup is a consistent and worthwhile talking point when it comes to festivals at the moment, and rightfully,Yours & Owls is packed full of girl-power. Close to half the lineup is made up of female-fronted acts or guy-girl duos representing the huge talent pool we have in this country. Ladyhawke, Vera Blue, Sampa The Great and Tired Lion are just a small handful of highlights.
Yours & Owls is promising a bigger event this year. Their Stuart Park site has been expanded to accommodate two main stages and add some breathing space for punters. There will also be more tickets on sale this year than any other year.
Tickets go on sale Monday, 20th June and judging by this lineup they’re likely to be snapped up pretty damn quickly. Check out the full lineup and ticket details below.
