Pearl Jam have just announced that they are in the middle of writing their tenth studio album. Speaking to Gazeta De Povo last month, guitarist Mike McCready said that “In this moment we are in the process of composing an album, we have seven songs … and we’ll work on the rest of them next year in March. This, no doubt, will appease many Pearl Jam enthusiasts out there,” – a statement recently confirmed by their manager.
Bassist Jeff Ament has also mentioned that the band have been looking to work on some new songs after the recent reissues of their first three albums. “If every two years we were doing one of those kind of box set, you know, like a group of two records or whatever, that would be fine,” he said to Pulse Of Radio. “But I think that with [the Cameron Crowe-produced documentary Pearl Jam: Twenty and its accompanying book] and all that stuff, I’m ready to make a new record.”
