Chalk this one up in the win column for Perth!
With more & more promoters axing the Western capital off their touring itineraries, locals are taking matters into their own hands.
Perth promoter Matt Hatton has just announced the inaugural Mad Hatter Fest, a 25-band, double-stage festival headlined by legendary Melbourne punks Bodyjar.
The event has a strong local focus, with the lineup also featuring names like Perth punk-thrashers Scalphunter, hardcore crew Ratking, plus Beerfridge, SHANGRILA and more.
“Not only is this line up huge, we have a few exciting additions to this music experience,” promoters tease.
“All that we can promise you is we pride ourselves in taking an independent approach to things, determined to be different from mainstream events showing things you’d be highly unlikely to see on many other festivals.
“See you in the pit.”
The fest will take place on Saturday, 24th of November at Inglewood’s Civic Hotel.
Speaking with Music Feeds, Hatton says the concept was born from a desire to “start doing something big here in WA and get some good old fashioned double stage festivals going in pubs”.
“And what way to get that going than by getting Bodyjar over?” he says.
“My background has always been punk and I know the rest of the WA punk fans would in WA music would be so excited about them playing and just to have a great day of live music.
“Everyone has really pulled around this and we really hope to make this a regular occurrence.”
