Peter, Bjorn and John Planning Australia Tour

Swedish pop trio Peter, Bjorn and John have said an Australian tour is in the pipeline as they gear up to release new album Gimme Some on March 29 – the Stockholm group have also been working on a DIY-style documentary.

Speaking to Triple J, drummer John Eriksson said a trip to Australia was on the band’s mind, saying, “We talked about Australia a couple of days ago and we’re organising a tour down there. I don’t know exactly when but we’re definitely coming this time.”

Peter, Bjorn and John haven’t been to Australia since an appearance at Laneway in 2008.

Meanwhile, Gimme Some has been leaked online prior to its official release. Eriksson gave his reaction:

“At first we got kind of pissed,” he said. “We were in the studio doing some b-sides and in the middle of the night someone texted me and said it’s leaking. So we were a bit annoyed but after a couple of hours I realised I don’t think it’s a bad thing, I think it’s good because the fans who really want to hear that record they might as well find it for free and the people who don’t care about it might run into it later. So I think it’s a good way to spread the word.”

And indeed a documentary charting Gimme Some‘s making is in the works too, Eriksson saying, “We’ve been out shooting a rockumentary about our new album. Not while we did the recording but afterwards. I think it’s going to be kind of lo-fi and crappy but still unique.”
