Praise Wayne Gretzky! Goldfinger Are Releasing Their First New Album In 10 Years

It’s time to say “Fuck Ted Nugent” once again, because your high-school self’s eighth favourite band Goldfinger are back with some brand new tuneage.

The pop-punk lords have just announced the imminent release of their first album in damn near a decade. It’s dubbed The Knife and is led by titular(ish) single ‘Put Away The Knife’, which is bound to give you a sugar-rush of nostalgia.

A big, singable, suffer-no-fools ska-punk anthem, the track comes packing a lyric video which you can check out below.

If you (for some reason) need a refresher, Goldfinger brought us a swarm of loveable tracks back in the late ’90s and early ’00s ,including hits like ‘Spokesman’ and that ace cover of ’99 Red Balloons’, not to mention such classic lesser-known gems as ‘Fuck You And Your Cat’, ‘Handjobs For Jesus’ and who could forget that whole prank calls think they did on the Open Your Eyes album.

Since then, frontman John Feldmann has made a name for himself as a world class producer, and has been responsible for such blockbuster albums as Blink-182’s California, All Time Low’s Future Hearts and 5 Seconds Of Summer’s Sounds Good Feels Good (among shitloads of others).

And now he’s releasing the first record under the Goldfinger name since 2008’s Hello Destiny. And he’s assembled a crack team of SoCal punk dudes to help him do it including MXPX bassist Mike Herrera, Story Of The Year axeman Philip ‘Moon Valjean’ Sneed and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. Yep.

The Knife is due out on Friday, 21st July via Rise Records. No word if The Used frontman Bert McCracken is involved this time around, but we’ll keep you posted.

Catch the first single below and keep your fingers crossed for an Australian tour.
