PREMIERE: Chance Waters Unveils ‘The Ticket Inspector’ Music Video

Following last week’s release of Chance Waters‘ latest tongue-in-cheek dispatch from the thick of 21st Century Australia, The Ticket Inspector, the ode to “every over-compensating, power-crazed dick” has now received a hilarious music video, starring none other than comedian Akmal Saleh.

“As a teenager my brother got assaulted by a ticket inspector for over-riding a $2 ticket,” said Chance. “I’d actually seen the guy around… almost exclusively targeting kids, often foreigners who didn’t understand the bus system properly. That’s who these inspectors are really there for.”

“There’s a proud cultural tradition of immortalising dickheads and their dickheadedness in art and The Ticket Inspector for me was a lighthearted and sarcastic way to do that – it’s sort of a love song…a kind of ballad for every over compensating, power crazed dick. On public transport or not.”

To support his new ballad, Chance has announced a string of national tour dates, which he’s dubbed the A Transit Officer Beat Up My Brother So I Wrote A Funny Song About Him tour. Joining Chance for the verbosely titled dates will be Sydney-bred indie pop impressionist Brendan Maclean.

Chance, who hails from the inner west of Sydney, is gearing up to release his third full-length effort later this year. His last album was 2012’s Infinity, which garnered praise for its intelligent and humorous lyricism and its delicately layered, left-of-field production. See The Ticket Inspector below.
