Premiere: Kilter – ‘They Say’ Ft Tkay Maidza

Ahead of his appearance at the upcoming Listen Out 2014 festival later this month, Sydney beatmaker Kilter is putting a spin on his own work, releasing a new version of his track They Say, this time featuring Tkay Maidza on vocals, and we’ve got the premiere right here on Music Feeds!

“I thought it would be really fun to do a version of They Say featuring a singer to perform together at big festivals,” says Kilter of the track. “Figuring that the style and busyness of the track would best suit a vocalist like Tkay, who can smash out really hyped up dance tunes.”

The duo smashed out the track and road-tested it earlier this year in front of a 5,000-strong crowd at Splendour In The Grass. Clearly, it tested well and now they’re dropping a sparkling studio version, ripe for your listening and dancing pleasure.

“I see it more as an evolution of the track rather than a remix or rework,” adds Kilter. “Adding a topline takes the tune one step further while remixing is more a different interpretation of its parts.”

The Sydneysider is still enjoying a wave of momentum kick-started by the release of his Shades EP back in July. He’s currently on the road, wrapping up the final dates of the Shades EP tour. See the remaining shows, below.

Kilter will then join Tkay on the upcoming Listen Out Festival lineup, and says the Brontosaurus singer is down to perform their version of They Say live once again, though only if Kilter dons a Brontosaurus costume and dances on stage during her set.
