Prince Is Penning His Memoirs, Plans To Release Book In 2017

Prince has announced that he’s currently writing a memoir set for release towards the end of 2017.

It will be his first original book and if we know Prince at all, it will be wildly ambitious with a hint of mystique and a lot of sass.

The press release issued backs that up too announcing that it will be “an unconventional and poetic journey through his life and creative work – from the family that shaped him and the people, places, and ideas that fired his creative imagination, to the stories behind the music that changed the world.”

The title of the book will be The Beautiful Ones which shares a name with a track off his 1984 masterpiece Purple Rain. During a press conference in New York he detailed that it will include stories from his first memory to when he played the Super Bowl halftime in 2007.

Prince performed Purple Rain at that show in the pouring rain – an extremely rare occurrence for the usually fine Super Bowl.

Chris Jackson, the Executive Editor of Spiegel & Grau, the publishers of the book, said in a press release, “Millions of words have been written about Prince—books and articles, essays and criticism—but we’re thrilled to be publishing Prince’s powerful reflections on his own life in his own incandescently vivid, witty, and poetic voice.”

Writing a book is just another thing to add to Prince’s dizzying workload. In the past 12 months alone he’s released two album Hit And Run Phase One and Two and found the time to trip to Australia for his intimate Piano and a Microphone tour.

There’s no exact release date for the book yet but it’s said to be coming in “Fall 2017” which is our spring.
