Prince’s Band The Revolution Will Reform Following His Death

Prince‘s long-time backing band the Revolution will reform to perform shows in the wake of his death last week.

The band made the announcement via video on Facebook yesterday on band member Brown Mark’s account. Mark was joined by other band members Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Bobby Z, and Matt Fink in the video.

“We have decided, after spending three or four days together now grieving over the loss of Prince, that we would like to come out and do some shows,” Melvoin says. “We want to let you know that we’ll be there soon.”

The Revolution formed in 1979 and first appeared in recording on Prince’s 1982 album 1999. They are also credited on the huge record Purple Rain from 1984, 1985’s Around the World in a Day and 1986’s Parade. The band went through several line-up changes and disbanded in 1986.

It appears that the band will tour the lineup that existed when the band broke up. Stay tuned for more deets as they emerge.
