Prince’s New Band 3rd Eye Girl Play New Single At Billboard Awards

It wasn’t all Bieber-booing and vicious Miguel leg-drops at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. Prince also took to the stage, after receiving the Billboard Icon Award, to perform new single Fix Ur Life Up with his all-girl band 3rd Eye Girl.

Fix Ur Life Up was only released 4 days ago on iTunes Australia and might have gone somewhat under the radar with the single being offered up as 3rd Eye Girl featuring Prince. This was perhaps Prince’s way of subverting the internet.

According to Noise11, Fix Ur Life Up aired on CBC Radio One, a Canadian radio station, back in April. Following the single’s radio debut Prince and 3rd Eye Girl then toured The States, playing 2 shows a night, and finishing just in time to play the BBMA.

3rd Eye Girl is made up of Hannah Ford (drums), Ida Nielsen (bass), and Donna Grantis (guitar) with The Purple One up front. News of 3rd Eye Girl circled back in January when a mostly dormant YouTube channel of the same name, established on NYE 2012, began posting previously unheard material from Prince.

You can check out the Prince and 3rd Eye Girl’s BBMA performance below. The performance saw Fix Ur Life Up preceded by Prince’s classic 1984 tune Let’s Go Crazy.
