Prog Blog: OM Announce Australian Tour For May

US outfit OM are bringing their unique blend of spiritually resonant and essential drone to Australia for a national tour this May.

The band formed in 2003 from the rhythm section of the disbanded stoner doom metal band, Sleep, with a line-up comprised of Al Cisneros on vocals and bass and Chris Hakius on drums.

Their fourth album, God Is Good (2009), saw Hakius replaced by Emil Amos (Grails, Lilacs and Champagne, and Holy Sons) and they followed with their fifth record Advaitic Songs in 2012, which also saw multi-instrumentalist Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe aka Lichens join the band full-time (previously of 90 Day Men and Twilight).

There’s a lot of buzz amongst the underground around this tour, so perhaps it’s best to leave it to Obelisk blog to sum up: “Simply put, there isn’t another band that sounds like OM does”.

Catch them playing around the country in May.
