Rock legends Queen have spurred excitement in their Aussie fans with a cryptic message shared on their social media channels that some have interpreted as a hint towards a potential Australian show or tour. Queen last played Down Under back in 1985, following the release of 1984’s The Works.

As Gigwise reports, the iconic group are currently gearing up for a massive US arena tour with American vocalist Adam Lambert filling the shoes left by the late Freddie Mercury, but took time out to announce that, “For the first time in 30 years, Queen are heading back to…… [stay tuned].”

Fans immediately started speculating on where Queen would be making their ceremonious return, with most predicting either Australia or Wembley Stadium, however the band last performed at Wembley Stadium as recently as 1992, as part of the historic Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.

Queen have performed across Western and Eastern Europe, the United States, and South Africa with Paul Rodgers and, more recently, Lambert on vocal duties over the past 30 years, but Australia remains as one of the few major territories where the theatrical rock veterans haven’t returned.
