Rewind 80s Festival: Tickets Will Be Refunded

It’s been a crazy day for those involved in the Rewind 80s Festival shambles that have occurred since the organisers announced a move from Wollongong to Sydney on Wednesday. They also removed a number of the headline acts from the line-up.

Ticket holders have been bombarding the Rewind Festival Facebook page with angry comments after finding out last night their tickets would not be refunded.

After the Department Of Fair Trading became involved today, it seems that the promoters have finally come to their senses and decided to do the right thing and offer punters a full refund on tickets.

Daily Spa has just revealed that at the request of Rewind promoter Shane Sanderson, Rewind Festival Australia will announce full refunds tonight. Punters will have 72 hours to lodge a submission to the festival in order to get a full refund.

Earlier today Fair Trading minister Anthony Robert said:

Simply put, it is no longer the same event and consumers should be given the option of a full refund

The UK branch of the Rewind Festival has tried to distance their organisation from the circus in Australia, stating on Facebook today:

The artists have not pulled out, they have been cancelled by the Australian promoter, who has decided to move it to an indoor venue. We are not happy about it either; Rewind in Australia is not the same organisation as in England and Scotland.

However, sources claim they were involved, having booked the festival at the start then selling sideshows to other promoters. They also provided a lot of the contacts for the Australian office.

An official announcement from Rewind Festival Australia regarding full ticket refunds is expected shortly.
