Rewind Festival Scam: Department Of Fair Trading Investigating

The Department of Fair Trading are investigating The Rewind Festival after festival organisers announced they would be moving the circus to Sydney, downgrading the line-up and not refunding tickets.

Update: Tickets Will Be Refunded

Ticket holders have flooded the Rewind Festival Facebook page with angry comments after it was announced the festival would move from the Illawarra Coast to the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney with a number of bands from the line-up missing.

Festival organiser Shane Sanderson has claimed the reason for the move is due to weather conditions. However, it has become clear to everyone that they did not sell enough tickets for the festival to go ahead at Illawarra and this is a last minute bid to try and save losses.

According to the illawarramercury, the festival organisers had also failed to secure the required development approval to host the festival.

A spokesperson for the Department of Fair Trading said:

Consumers purchasing tickets for entertainment are protected by the consumer guarantees provided under the Australian Consumer Law.

We can only hope that this will lead to tickets being refunded and put an end to the scam Shane Sanderson is trying to run at the moment.
