Rick Ross has been confirmed by police as the target of a recent drive-by. As reported by MTV News, Fort Lauderdale police issued an official statement claiming that Ross was driving a Rolls Royce that was targeted by the as-yet-unidentified gunmen.
The incident occurred in Florida on Monday, 28th January at 5 am. Ross reportedly lost control of his vehicle after hearing gunshots fired in his direction and crashed into an apartment building. Ross’s partner, 28-year old fashion designer Shateria L. Moragne-El, was also in the car.
Police have filed the incident as “an active and ongoing criminal investigation”. At this point it is unknown if the shooting is in any way connected to the online death threats Ross received from the urban gang Gangsters Disciples.
Not everyone is taking the apparent drive-by seriously. 50 Cent posted on his Instagram account that he believes the alleged shooting was staged as a story to cover for Ross crashing his vehicle.
“Hahaha fat boy hit the building?lol it looks stage to me. No hole’s in da car,” 50 Cent posted as a caption to an image of Ross’s crashed Rolls Royce.
