The Rolling Stones Are Recording Their First Original Album In 12 Years

The world’s most unstoppable band The Rolling Stones aren’t going to stop rolling any time soon, with guitar legend Keith Richards confirming plans to hit the studio and record their first album of original songs in over a decade.

Yep, The Stones are officially in the early stages of crafting the follow-up to 2005’s A Bigger Bang, which was followed up by last year’s covers LP Blue & Lonesome, with Richards confirming that they’re set to hit the studio “very very shortly”.

“Cutting some new stuff and considering where to take it next,” The iconic axeman tells Ultimate Classic Rock. “Blue & Lonesome caught us a little bit by surprise in that we figured it was something we had to do, but we didn’t expect the response.”

The band’s new LP may or may not include an unlikely collaboration with UK grimelord Skepta, who was snapped in the studio with frontman Mick Jagger earlier this month.

Either that or Jagger is working with the rapper on something totally unrelated. Regardless, colour us intrigued!
