It was reported here back in June that Philadelphia’s purveyors of ‘thinking man’s hip hop’ The Roots were in the early stages of putting together a new album, the follow-up to 2010’s massively lauded How I Got Over. Now, details have emerged, with drummer and founding member ?uestlove revealing on Twitter that the group’s thirteenth album will be called Undun, and will appear through Def Jam records later this year.
A 24-second ‘Twitvid’ has also surfaced, showing The Roots at work in the studio. You can see that here.
?uestlove had previously said that the new LP would, “be heavy on sort of orchestral chamber music with harder beats in it.”
He also said that the album’s name would be, “a one-word title that’s spelled incorrectly…what a way to tease you, right?”
