Roy Ayers releases full Australian tour dates

Appearing as part of the Playground Weekender festival, legendary disco soul artist Roy Ayers will be visiting a range of cities as part of his upcoming February tour, marking his return following a spirited tour in 2008. Playing alongside Kool & The Gang in Sydney and Melbourne, Ayers has also released details of his own solo show at The Basement in Sydney and The Espy in Melbourne, as well as other dates in Perth and Adelaide.

One of the pioneers of acid jazz, Ayers has always been a man ahead of his time from his work with jazz bands in the 60s through to leading RnB bands in the 70s, 80s. His work has seen him collaborate with some of the world’s most important artists most notably with Nigerian afrobeat activist Fela Kuti on their 1980 Music Of Many Colours album, and most recently with acts like Erykah Badu and The Roots.
