Royal Chant heads for hard rain

Written by John Ritchie on January 4, 2011

Royal Chant will flee the tourist-packed beaches of Port Macquarie and head North into the rains with a string of Summer shows. After taking the stage for an unplugged set opening for CAPTAIN KICKARSE & THE AWESOMES, they’ll be driving through the night for their Toowoomba debut, followed by shows on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and a rare Monday night acoustic set at The Cavern at Nobby Beach. They cap it off with a set at the inaugural NEW BEGINNINGS FESTIVAL at Lake Macquarie on the Central Coast.

Following the release of their Right On/Write Off and Starts & Stutters EPs, Royal Chant burrowed into Megaphon Studios with producer Shane Fahey to record their furious debut LP, Raise Your Glass & Collapse. Mixing a brutal strain of romanticism with skewed pop sensibilities, they have created their most startling and disarming work to date. TRACKS MAGAZINE recently gave the band a boost when they got their hands on a few of the unreleased cuts for use in their video coverage of the Billabong Pipe Masters in December.

Raise Your Glass & Collapse will be released in February through MGM.
