Sally Seltmann Unveils New Song ‘Needle In The Hay’ Ahead of New LP

Australian singer-songwriter Sally Seltmann first got people talking as New Buffalo, then under her own name with 2010’s graceful Heart That’s Pounding, and most recently as part of Seeker Lover Keeper with Sarah Blasko and Holly Throsby. Now Seltmann has unveiled her latest release, Needle In The Hay, from her upcoming new album.

The new LP is due out in 2014, with an official single to be released this November. The delightful and light-hearted Needle In The Hay is a taste of what fans can expect from the new record. Said Seltmann: “I wanted you to hear this song first because it marks the beginning of a new journey,” says Sally. “It’s about losing yourself, following your heart, and above all – LOVE!” The track was produced by Seltmann’s husband Darren Seltmann and features cameos from Bree van Reyk (Paul Kelly) on drums and percussion, and Michel Rose on pedal steel.

The accompanying video is titled The Sugar Fountain, created by Seltmann’s friend, artist Isobel Knowles. The Sugar Fountain, an animated journey, came about from a project created for Melbourne’s Schoolhouse Studios in 2012. “It was a series of edible art desserts, collaborations between artists and chefs,” said Isobel, adding “Needle In The Hay has so many cascading, euphoric passages that lend themselves to this fantasy fountain. I like to describe it as psychodelcious!”
