Schoolboy Q, one quarter of the California hip-hop crew Black Hippy with Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul, has announced that fresh from dropping his third full-length effort, Oxymoron, which has been garnering stellar reviews, he will embark on his debut Australian headline tour.
“Kendrick left me no choice but to drop a classic,” Schoolboy Q aka Quincy Matthew Hanley told 2dopeboyz ahead of the album’s release and it looks as though Hanley’s prophecy is being fulfilled, with Oxymoron garnering universal acclaim and debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
This will be Schoolboy Q’s first opportunity to survey the Aussie crowds as a headline performer. His last scheduled visit to our shores was to take place last February, supporting hip-hop supercrew Slaughterhouse—a tour that was unfortunately cancelled before it ever got off the ground.
Schoolboy Q’s 2014 Australian tour kicks off Thursday, 5th June at Villa in Perth, before taking on the East Coast with a string of gigs set to blitz through The Hi-Fi in Brisbane, Sydney’s famous Enmore Theatre, and Melbourne’s The Forum. Check below for all dates and ticketing details.
