Shihad have announced a national Australian tour to support the release of their long-awaited ninth album, FVEY. Having unveiled FVEY to a stream of glowing reviews and a Top 10 ARIA Chart spot, the Wellington natives will celebrate the release with six dates in venues around the country.
FVEY, the much-anticipated follow-up to 2010’s Ignite, is already being hailed as Shihad’s finest work in over a decade, and the Melbourne-based heroes are ready to bring it to life on the stage, having long ago cemented a reputation as one of the country’s finest and loudest live rock acts.
“This is a personal record for me and I don’t have the answers. I’m still working things out,” says frontman Jon Toogood of the new album. Injustice is a recurring lyrical theme throughout the record, says Toogood, part of his attempt to further understand the state of the world today.
The band will be supported by the ferocious meld of punk and metal that is Melbourne’s own High Tension, fresh off tours with The Bronx, High on Fire, and Violent Soho. Also joining will be Cairo Knife Fight, who’ve previously toured with the likes of Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters.
