Sia Will Release New Album This May

Quirky Australian singer and songwriter for the stars Sia has officially left retirement and dropped the release date for a much anticipated sixth studio album. Breaking the news via twitter, Sia confirmed the album’s release for this May, adding there’ll be no fanfare involved, just music.

In February 2012 Sia announced that she was quitting the music business due to the gruelling demands of fame. She then went on to pen hits for artists including Rihanna, Katy Perry and Beyoncé, who went on to call Sia a genius. She’s also sung guest vocals on David Guetta and Flo Rida hits and appeared on the Great Gatsby and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtracks. Despite her claims of retirement, the past few years have brought her more notoriety than ever before.

In an interview with Billboard last year Sia confirmed she was working on a new record to be released early 2014 and said there was a clause in her contract that stipulates she doesn’t have to tour or do press to promote it. “I get to sit at home with the dogs on the sofa, record in a closet in the office, send them off and, if I’m lucky, make a million dollars,” she said.

No further details about the new record have emerged, but this is Sia and she clearly steers her own path. We’ll get them when how she wants to give them. “No touring, no promo. Just music.”
